About UltraSessions

Featuring top regional and touring acts, UltraSessions are live in-studio recording sessions with an audience in the room to add energy and excitement to the performance. While our first session was audio-only and we will continue to host recordings of live music that way, we capture both video and audio these days.

UltraSessions originate from historic Ultrasuede Studio in Cincinnati, Ohio (Midnight Star, The Deele, Psychodots, Afghan Whigs, Ass Ponys, Wussy and hundreds of others have made records in this room). In the 90s we hosted dozens of legendary StudioX recordings for WOXY and Channel Z (WAQZ 97.3), featuring bands like Cold Play, Sum 41, Cowboy Junkies, Rev. Horton Heat, G Love & Special Sauce, and Luscious Jackson to name a few. Engineer Brian Niesz left Cincinnati with WOXY to capture Lounge Acts for the station in Austin. When they folded, he returned, bringing new ideas and his expertise with him. At the Midpoint Music Festival in September 2011 The All Night Party went all-in, hosting 2 UltraSessions each day of the festival. For South by Southwest 2012 we kick it up a notch: One session every month, featuring the best bands coming through Cincinnati.
