If you like feeling like your on the soft wings of a mythical beast, then by watching and listening to this you’ll be enjoying, or perhaps have already been enjoying, The Chocolate Horse. We’re still working on making actual chocolate horses that come with their music…because that would be awesome and delicious. Here’s their bio from their website where you can find more music and stuff from these guys:
Jason Snell began The Chocolate Horse as a modest side-project in the summer of 2003. It was happily self-indulgent, centered on writing simple, slightly romantic 2-minute one-liners with an old guitar and a worn-in banjo, recorded on a deteriorating 4-track recording device in which only two tracks worked.
Quickly, Jason recruited long time friend Andrew Higley (Ben Folds/Greenhornes) playing French horn, saw and bow and keys leading us to Paul Brumm to record us in the studio. As we began recording, Paul played bass, and we now had a band.
Fast forward to 2011, The Chocolate Horse has released its third full length album, Beasts with help from friends Joe Costa (Ben Folds and Greenhornes) who mixed Beasts at RCA Studio A in Nashville TN., with mastering duties by Marc Chevalier, at Raven Sound in Nashville, TN. The Chocolate Horse performs as 1 to sometimes 7 piece band, showing its diversity.
